On Friday, June 7, a full day of celebrations will take place to honour Portage College students as they don cap and gown to receive their certificates and diplomas during convocation.  

"We welcome family and friends of our students as well as the many awards donors, agencies, and company representatives who have been instrumental in supporting students through their education", said Nancy Broadbent, President and CEO of Portage College.  

Convocation will take place in the gymnasium at the Lac La Biche campus in two separate ceremonies, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Piper Chris Warren from Tofield and Drummer Clayton J. Meneen from Fort Vermillion will lead the student processional into the gymnasium where each student will be individually recognized for their accomplishments.  

A traditional Honours ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the McGrane Theatre. This event is hosted by the College to celebrate the accomplishments of students. All students are welcome whether of indigenous heritage or not. This year the College is offering students the choice of an eagle feather or a Métis sash to commemorate success.

A convocation reception will be held between 11:30 and 2:30 in the Voyageur Grill and all convocates from both ceremonies and their families are invited to attend.  

Allison Dupre of Allison Andria Photography will be on site for anyone wishing to commemorate their convocation with a formal portrait. In addition, room 216 will be set up should anyone want to take informal photographs.  

Guests can also enjoy an Art Expose in-between ceremonies. The Native Arts and Culture students will be displaying their work from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. in the Native Arts and Culture Studio located on the main level.
