August 31, 2017

Portage College is pleased to welcome a long time business instructor to an important new role in St. Paul. Bev Lockett is now Manager of our St. Paul campus.

The role of the St. Paul Manager is critical in moving forward the vision for commercialization of the Food Sciences Centre and will provide the community a focal point for contact in St. Paul.

Lockett brings a wealth of experience as a College employee since 2001 and as an entrepreneur. For 15 years, she has enjoyed teaching business courses at Portage College including management and entrepreneurial studies.

"Bev's education and entrepreneurial experience, along with her determination and commitment to Portage, will enable her successful leadership. Bev and the St. Paul campus team will bring the vision for the St. Paul Food Science Centre, with all its commercialization and entrepreneurial components, to fruition." says Dr. Trent Keough, President & CEO of Portage College.

Having completed an undergraduate degree and several certificates, Lockett obtained an MBA and is currently pursuing her PhD studies in Management with a specialty in Leadership and Organizational Change. During her studies, Lockett received the President's Medal for academic achievement with College of the North Atlantic and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency Enterprise Market Information Research Award for accomplishments in market research for local businesses.

Lockett is an entrepreneur who not only has been teaching Entrepreneurship for the College but also has been running her own business since 1999. She has also served as Faculty Association Chair for the past 3 years.

"I look forward to providing leadership within the St. Paul region to ensure that students continue to have an exceptional learning experience and to enhance the college's relationships with community stakeholders as Portage continues to meet the needs of St. Paul and the surrounding areas." says Lockett.
