ABOUT THE POSITION
Portage College is looking for an individual with hospitality experience to work in a unique position at the Lac La Biche campus that provides support to – The Voyageur Grill. Some of the responsibilities include:
- Ensure labeling and inventory management to maximize profit and quality.
- Review grill menu and order food accordingly.
- Ensure proper food handling and sanitation practices are followed.
- Assist customers with inquiries and purchases.
- Work with caterer and professional cook staff to ensure adequate inventory is maintained.
- Assist in marketing and promoting the Voyageur Grill and other ancillary services provided by the Professional Cook programs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience working in a kitchen/restaurant as a cook
- Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and proper methods related to preparation of food in large quantities
- Ability to calculate, prepare and serve food in accordance with menus and establish procedures
- Knowledge and training in proper food handling and sanitation procedures
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and other physical activity, including standing for extended periods of time
- Strong skills in organization
- Successful applicant will be required to provide a current police information check
