ABOUT THE POSITION
Portage College is actively seeking a highly motivated and tech-savvy journeyperson to provide services in Portage Salon at our Lac La Biche campus. Responsibilities include:
- Provide hairstyling services to the public in the Portage Salon.
- Supervise up to two apprentices from the program.
- Maintain inventory and create order lists for college personnel.
- Organize and maintain product displays.
- Model and ensure safety protocols are followed in the salon.
- Daily salon cashouts.
- Maintain a salon front end presence throughout the year working a minimum 30 hours per week excluding, stat holidays, annual holidays, and illness.
- Maintain space is clean and presentable, keeping in compliance with cleaning and maintaining of spaces provided.
- Must provide liability insurance for services offered.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Red Seal Journeyperson Hairstyling Certificate, plus several years of related post-journeyperson experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Adult instruction, training, and/or tutoring experience will be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Computer skills are required with a demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office tools and applications.
