This one-year, blended-delivery course for international students will provide you with the tools you need to become an effective leader in business. You’ll learn communication and leadership skills, the principles of management, how to foster productivity and well-being and much more. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to round out your leadership training by choosing from an extensive list of micro-credentials within the program. With 256 hours of face to face instruction, 180 hours of online learning plus six six-hour elective microcredential courses, you’ll be ready for a rewarding career in business. Please note that this is a non-credited course.

Semester 1

Organizational Behaviour is the study of what people think, feel and do in and around organizations. Organizational Behaviour is not just for managers; the concepts explored in this course are useful to anyone who works. This course builds student knowledge starting at an individual level, moving on to a team level, and finally finishing at the organizational level. Students will develop an understanding of how Organizational Behaviour concepts affect themselves and others, and how those impact the organization's bottom line. Prerequisites: ELA 30-1, ELA 30-2, or English 33

This course is aimed at providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the skills generally accepted as valuable to leadership. Students will develop these skills through study, participation in class activities, and self-reflection. The course is designed to integrate current leadership theory with practical applications and the student's own leadership journey. Leadership topics include, but are not limited to, the following topics: personal traits and characteristics, mental models, ethics, diversity, organizational culture, mission, vision, and strategy and change. Learners will develop a solid foundation for best management practices within an organization. The four fundamental principles of management (planning, organizing, leading, and controlling) are examined. Learners will be exposed to the process of strategic analysis and learn ways to integrate these principles. This course incorporates various learning activities, discussions, and case studies. Prerequisites – English 30-2

Human Resources management is a complex and strategically important factor in all successful business entities. The intent of this course is to provide an overview of the most important aspects in this field: human behaviour in organizations, personnel planning, job analysis and evaluation, staff recruitment and development, performance evaluation, compensation administration and fringe benefits, performance appraisal, and labour relations. PREREQUISITES: ENGL 30-2 or COMM 121
