The Healthier Communities Golf Tournament that was co-hosted in July by Lac La Biche County, Portage College and the Lac La Biche Regional Health Foundation raised more than $45,000. ER nurse says Portage College Paramedic grads are so good, she and her step-dad enrolled in the program
Taylor Resendes is an ER nurse from Sylvan Lake who is taking the Advanced Care Paramedic program at Portage College because she has seen first-hand how well-trained the program's graduates are. Resendes and her step-dad, Cory Christopherson, are both in the two-and-a-half-year program and say they continue to be impressed by the outstanding training offered at Portage College.

A long-serving endowment fund that provides financial awards to Métis students attending Portage College is getting a $75,000 boost.Provided by the Métis Education Foundation Endowment Fund, the awards represent a continuing partnership between Portage College, the Métis Education Fund, the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, and the Rupertsland Institute. The endowment fund has provided financial awards to Portage College students each year since 2009.
