College submission selected from 6,000 entries
A Portage College promotion campaign has been selected by Graphic Design USA magazine as one of the best submissions in their 2025 Design Awards Showcase competition.
The “It’s About You” athletics recruitment video was selected from more than 6,000 entries across North America. The video shares the spotlight with winning entries representing companies like Walmart, Canon, Dell, Xerox, Vanderbilt University and Molson Coors.

The Portage College submission was crafted in-house by Corporate Communications Manager Jaime Davies and Athletics Marketing Specialist Jaylynn Plamondon, with the production collaboration of DJ Summitt at Summitt FilmWorks
“We are thrilled to be recognized and to share that recognition with such a diverse and talented group,” says Davies. “I’m so proud of our team on presenting our brand promise, [It’s About You] in an eye-catching way.”
The 62nd GDUSA Graphic Design Showcase is held each year to reflect how creative professionals serve and shape commerce, culture, and causes.
Plamondon and Davies say working in a dynamic college setting provides new and exciting ideas at every turn.
“We have so many areas from where we can draw inspiration,” says Plamondon.
Davies agrees.
“Portage employees pride ourselves on being student-focused. Communicating this message in a creative way is what makes Portage College stand out,” she says. “Of course this kind of recognition helps us communicate that outside our usual target audience.”
The 2025 Graphic Design Showcase was sponsored by global paper and packaging company Billerud.
This was the first time Portage College had entered the GDUSA showcase, but it isn’t the only ‘big-stage’ recognition Portage College has received for its creative promotion. In 2019, Portage College received three bronze medal finishes in the global Telly Awards for a short video on the Portage College Voyageurs soccer team. That video also featured the collaboration of Summitt FilmWorks. The Telly Awards recognize excellence in non-broadcast, promotional and commercial videos produced by companies from around the world.
