Wanîskah

Named Wanîskah ᐊᐧᓂᐢᑲᐦ, the room serves as a concrete and spiritual centerpiece for our students, staff, and community. Wanîskah means “arise, wake up and rise” and was chosen to reflect waking up to ways of change and Indigenous Ways of Knowing.

Student Lounge

This student lounge, located in the main foyer of our Lac La Biche campus, is accessible to all students and provides a comfortable, quiet place for studying, reading, writing, or taking a break. It’s also a great place to meet and connect with friends.

We acknowledge that Portage College’s service region is on the traditional lands of First Nation Peoples, the owners of Treaty 6, 8 and 10, which are also homelands to the Métis people. We honour the history and culture of all people who first lived and gathered in these lands.
