Requesting a Correction to your Personal Information

Home » About » Access and Privacy » Requesting a Correction to your Personal Information

The Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) allows you to request a correction to your personal information. This means you can ask for a change, but it does not guarantee the information will be corrected.

You can request a correction if your personal information contains factual errors or is missing important details. The College will generally not change opinions, however, you may ask to have a note (annotation) added to your record.

In response to correction requests, the College may either:

  • Correct the information
  • Add information that was omitted, or
  • Annotate the record if a correction is refused or not possible

Whenever possible, you are encouraged to contact the department that has your information to request a correction. If you need help finding the right department, you can email privacy@portagecollege.ca.

If your request is denied, or you are not satisfied with the response, you can submit a formal Correction of Personal Information Request form to privacy@portagecollege.ca to review.
