ABOUT THE POSITION
Portage College is actively seeking skilled and motivated individuals to instruct in our program Aircraft Structures Technician program at our Aerospace Campus in Cold Lake. Responsibilities include:
- Deliver engaging theory and hands-on lab instruction to students in the Aircraft Structures Technician program.
- Develop learning materials and assessments tailored for adult learners which will include the use of various Microsoft Office programs, following college and program guidelines.
- Support student success by providing timely feedback and evaluations.
- Promote and enforce safety protocols in both classroom and lab settings, in line with Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment where everyone feels valued.
- Continuously improve instructional practices to enhance student learning.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements to ensure program alignment with industry best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Completion of a Transport Canada-approved AME basic training program. Equivalencies may be considered.
- Licensed Aircraft Mechanic (AME-S/AME) or equivalent (e.g. Canadian Forces ACS Tech).
- Minimum of three years’ aviation maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of aircraft structures, including composite materials and painting.
- Adult teaching/tutoring experience would be considered beneficial.
- Strong communication, administrative, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Physically capable of performing tasks involving heavy lifting and wearing a respirator for extended periods of time.
- Strong computer skills, especially with MS Office, is essential.
- Knowledge or experience with Moodle or other Learning Management Software is an asset.
- The successful applicant will be required to provide a current criminal record check.
