Our Mission:
The Students’ Association of Portage College fosters student achievement and growth through engaging community, leadership, experiences, advocacy and resilience.
The duties of the SAPC Board are to govern the affairs of the students at Portage College:
- The Board is responsible for the organization’s highest level of decision making and legal authority.
- The Board is accountable for the organization’s resources and activities.
- The Board defines, through policy, the parameters of the organization that govern the activities and affairs of the Students’ Association.

Jayelynn Michaud
SAPC President
The president chairs the SAPC Board Meetings, and provides leadership to the Board. Also, the President is an “ex officio” member of all committees.
The 2025-2026 President is Jayelynn Michaud. She is a 2nd year Culinary Arts student and looks forward to working with students for 2025-2026 school year.

The Vice President Academic develops and maintains awareness of significant academic issues that impact students.

The Vice President External communicates frequently with students at all Portage campus locations to determine what types of events and activities would be of most interest to students.

SAPC Secretary
The Secretary records all meeting minutes to ensure an accurate record of all motions and votes during SAPC meetings.
The 2025-2026 secretary is Shankar Shrestha. He is an Early Learning and Child Care student on the Lac La Biche campus. Shankar is deeply committed to creating a stronger, more inclusive and student-focused academic environment. He wants to ensure every student’s voice is heard, advocate for better resources, and foster a culture of integrity and respect.

SAPC Treasurer
The Treasurer monitors expenditures of the SAPC and provides feedback to the council, verifying spending is occurring that follows both the association’s annual business plan and the will of the council.
The 2025-2026 Treasurer is Wynandie Jansen Van Rensburg. Wynandie is a Business Administration student working on her Accounting diploma on the Cold Lake campus. She is passionate about advocating for student needs and enhancing campus life. She believes that every student deserves a voice and the opportunity to thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment. Through collaboration and commitment, she aims to make a positive impact on the school community and ensure that the concerns of her peers are heard and addressed through consultation and consensus.

Vicki Schaeffer is a 2025-2026 campus representative on the St. Paul campus. Vicki is a 2nd year nursing student. She was previously on the SAPC board for 6 years, and is glad to be back this year. She loves being able to help other students and considers it a privilege to be on the SAPC.
