About This Event

The ALERT Northern Alberta Internet Child Exploitation Unit welcomes parents, caregivers, educators, and community members to attend an information session about the realities of internet child exploitation in Alberta and strategies to help keep kids safe online.

This session will explore how to navigate these issues in an open and collaborative way with children while helping parents and caregivers better understand current online risks and concerns facing youth.

Topics discussed will include:

• who ALERT and the Internet Child Exploitation Unit are and what they do
• child luring and sextortion
• artificial intelligence and online risks
• the commodification of sexual interactions online
• partner agencies and available supports
• ways families, caregivers, educators, and communities can work together to support online safety

This session is intended for parents, caregivers, educators, and anyone interested in learning more about online child exploitation, online safety, and available supports in Alberta.
