Date & Time: June 17, 2026 | 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Location: Online (Microsoft Teams)
Presented by: Friendship Centres across the Lakeland region
About This Event
Join Friendship Centres from across the Lakeland for a shared conversation grounded in history, relationships, and community experience.
This session brings together the Lac La Biche Canadian Native Friendship Centre, the Bonnyville Friendship Centre, and the Mannawanis Friendship Centre in St. Paul.
Friendship Centres have long been places where Indigenous people find connection, support, and a sense of belonging, especially when navigating life away from home communities or through unfamiliar systems. Created by Indigenous people to respond to real community needs, they continue to play an important role today.
They also contribute to reconciliation by creating welcoming, inclusive spaces where Indigenous and non Indigenous people can learn from one another, build understanding, and strengthen relationships grounded in respect and shared responsibility.
Through stories, reflection, and dialogue, presenters will share how Friendship Centres began, what they stand for, and how they support people facing everyday challenges in our communities.
In this session, we will:
• Honour the role of Friendship Centres
• Learn from lived experience
• Strengthen relationships across community
• Explore how we can better support people together
