ABOUT THE POSITION
The Budget Officer is a key member of the Finance department that reports to the Senior Financial Analyst. The Budget Officer role is a senior administrative position that provides support to the Budget Office and holds lead responsibility for student account activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Distribute & track monthly budget reports
  • Budget report corrections & adjustments to ensure the most up to date forecasted and actual budget codes
  • Expenditure Officer adjustments
  • Input Student Account refunds, deposits and write off’s
  • Post Senior Financial Officers requests/obsolete items
  • Bank reconciliation for all Portage College bank accounts
  • Assist with T2202 preparation and Audit requests
  • Maintain electronic filing systems

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance or Business or a combination of education and experience equivalency.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in a senior administrative role in a business environment.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with experience in reconciliation of financial accounts, banking and cash management.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Must be proficient with computers, especially MS Office.
  • Strong skills in organization, data entry and customer service.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Knowledge or experience working with Unit 4 would be an asset.
  • Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Successful applicant will be required to provide a current vulnerable sector police information check.
