ABOUT THE POSITION

Using the College student driving vehicle, the Driver Trainer will deliver one-on-one practical driving instructions for Class 5. Responsibilities include:

• Conduct comprehensive training sessions for individuals seeking to obtain their Class 5 driver’s license.
• Provide hands on training to learners by demonstrating proper driving techniques and maneuvers, such as parking, lane changing, merging, and turning.
• Coach learner on vehicle handling, braking, acceleration and steering control.
• Prioritize safety throughout training sessions. Ingrain safety protocols, risk assessment, and defensive driving strategies into all aspects of the training; Provide adherence to seatbelt usage, speed limits, and other safety practices.
• Work with the Continuing Education team to provide up-to-date records of student progress and completion.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Valid Alberta Driver Instructor’s License for Class 5.
• Minimum 10 years driving experience.
• Instructional experience would be beneficial.
• Comprehensive knowledge of traffic rules and safe driving principles.
• Proof of driving record.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Successful applicant will be required to provide a current police information check with vulnerable sector check.
