ABOUT THE POSITION

Portage College is recruiting a Coordinator to contribute to the success of the College’s Aircraft Maintenance Engineering – Structures (AME-S) program. Reporting to the Dean of Trades and Technology, the Coordinator has the dual role of providing leadership for the AME-S program (including working with Transport Canada) and providing direct program instruction to students. Some of the responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate the implementation and communication of the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering – Structures program consistent with Portage College’s provincial mandate and strategic vision, mission, and goals.
  • Liaise with Transport Canada as the Person Responsible for Training (PRT).
  • Theory and practical instruction in the AME-S.
  • Curriculum development and/or revision.
  • Review and develop exams, quizzes and other evaluation material for students in alignment with accrediting agency.
  • Manage and evaluate student progress in the program.
  • Responsible for promoting and ensuring safe working habits.
  • Maintain lab and classroom equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must be a licensed AME or equivalent (such as Aircraft Structures Technician), with 6+ years of experience in aircraft maintenance. Preference will be given to those with an AME-S license.
  • Prior instructional experience in industry, post-secondary, or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong focus on learner experience and success, and experience in program planning, development, and administration.
  • Strong skills in leadership, team building, and human resource management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with diverse internal and external groups.
  • Strong computer skills, specifically with MS Office suite.
  • Knowledge or experience with Moodle or other Learning Management Systems (LMS) would be an asset.
  • Successful applicant will be required to provide a current police information check.
