ABOUT THE POSITION
Portage College is seeking a Coordinator to contribute to the success of the College’s Student Learning Services department. Reporting to the Director of Student Services/Registrar, some of the Coordinator’s responsibilities include:
- Overseeing unit operations, including workload coordination, staff training, and resource allocation to support learners effectively.
- Acting as liaison with program areas, ensuring strong communication and issue resolution; prepare monthly and annual reports, including government-required statistics.
- Managing staff performance reviews, hiring, and professional development, while also overseeing budgets and maintaining compliance with policies and legislation.
- Administering C and B Level Assessments, train staff in relevant testing procedures, and ensure consistency across campus locations.
- Providing guidance to Student Learning Facilitators and Assistants, oversee Individual Education Plans, and manage quarterly reconciliation processes.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s Degree in Counselling, Psychology Education or equivalent
- 5 years of experience in SLS related work
- Supervisory experience is considered an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of psychological testing protocols and evaluation methods
- Ethics training
- Knowledge of a variety of subjects relating to personal development, instructional techniques, organizational and leadership skills, knowledge of learning barriers.
- Knowledge of provincial and federal legislation
- Awareness of learning barriers
- Successful applicant will be required to provide a current police information check.
