ABOUT THE POSITION

Portage College is actively seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Infrastructure team. Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, the Facilities Supervisor is responsible for overseeing inspections, maintenance, and servicing of all campuses. They coordinate renovations and projects across campuses and manage annual insurance renewals and claims. The role also involves administering the commercial fleet and supervising the infrastructure team. A key aspect of the position is managing work orders, ensuring the Facility Service Workers’ workload capacity is well understood, and optimizing task deployment for effective performance management. Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and monitor work orders and maintenance at all campuses, ensuring timely repairs and inspections.
  • Supervise Facility Service Workers and casual laborers, assign tasks, and ensure safety compliance with OH&S regulations.
  • Facilitate equipment repairs and replacements, ensuring annual maintenance and inspections are completed.
  • Coordinate with contractors and suppliers for project materials, pricing, and estimate preparation.
  • Administer corporate insurance renewal and claims, collaborating with stakeholders and adjusters.
  • Oversee commercial fleet management, ensuring compliance and vehicle maintenance.
  • Handle furniture and material moves, arrange clean-up duties, and provide coverage for absent team members.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Post-Secondary Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years experience related to building maintenance considered an asset
  • Building operations & maintenance related skills and knowledge
  • Strong supervisory skills
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to compose clear and concise reports using Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of use and able to train on etiquette for two-way-radio.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines and display keen problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Successful applicant will be required to provide a current driver’s abstract that must meet the College’s satisfaction.
