HAIRSTYLIST, PORTAGE SALON

ABOUT THE POSITION

Portage College is actively seeking a highly motivated and tech-savvy journeyperson to provide services in Portage Salon at our Lac La Biche campus. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide hairstyling services to the public in the Portage Salon.
  • Supervise up to two apprentices from the program.
  • Maintain inventory and create order lists for college personnel.
  • Organize and maintain product displays.
  • Model and ensure safety protocols are followed in the salon.
  • Daily salon cashouts.
  • Maintain a salon front end presence throughout the year working a minimum 30 hours per week excluding, stat holidays, annual holidays, and illness.
  • Maintain space is clean and presentable, keeping in compliance with cleaning and maintaining of spaces provided.
  • Must provide liability insurance for services offered.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Red Seal Journeyperson Hairstyling Certificate, plus several years of related post-journeyperson experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adult instruction, training, and/or tutoring experience will be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills are required with a demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office tools and applications.
