ABOUT THE POSITION

Portage College has an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced paramedic to join the College’s Faculty of Paramedicine as a full-time term Paramedicine Instructor. Some of the responsibilities include:

  •  Classroom and distance instruction at the BLS and ALS levels.
  • Preparation and delivery of subjects.
  • Assist with curriculum development and/or revision.
  • Assist with preparation of internal and external audits.
  • Develop exams, quizzes and other evaluation material for students.
  • Manage and evaluate student progress in the program.
  • Assist in organizing and supervising student practicums.
    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) or Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) diploma required. Alternatively, an allied health diploma or RN degree, combined with an undergraduate degree in science, nursing, or an allied health profession, and a Master’s degree in health, education, or a relevant discipline, along with several years of experience in the healthcare sector, will also be considered.
  • The successful candidate must be in good standing with their licensing body (e.g., Alberta College of Paramedics, CRNA, CLPNA).
  • Preference will be given to applicants with BLS, ACLS, PALS, ITLS, and NRP certifications. Instructor status in these certifications is considered an asset.
  • Adult teaching/tutoring experience would be considered beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Thorough skills and knowledge of paramedicine.
  • Knowledge or experience with Moodle or other Learning Management System would be an asset.
  • Strong computer skills, especially with MS Office, is essential.
  • Successful applicant will be required to provide a current vulnerable sector police information check.
