ABOUT THE POSITION
The Manager, System Implementation Project reports to Vice President, Student & College Services, and has the responsibility to oversee and manage the end-to-end implementation of complex computer systems for business users at the College. This role requires leadership, technical expertise, and exceptional project management skills to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. The ideal candidate will be adept at handling the technical, organizational, and interpersonal challenges that come with large-scale system integrations. Responsibilities include:
- Lead in the planning and execution of computer system implementation projects and develop detailed plans with resource allocation, milestones, and risk management strategies.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, facilitate regular meetings, and serve as the main point of contact for internal teams and business users, ensuring alignment and clear communication with all stakeholders, including executive sponsors.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, troubleshoot technical and organizational challenges, and ensure deliverables meet quality standards and requirements to keep projects on track.
- Provide regular project updates to stakeholders, advocate for business users' needs, manage relationships to ensure satisfaction and long-term partnerships, and prioritize organizational change management principles.
- Oversee system integration, coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT), and ensure the delivery of training and support materials to end users for smooth system rollout.
- Maintain detailed documentation of project milestones and deliverables, and prepare reports, presentations, and post-implementation reviews for key stakeholders.
- Ensure post-implementation support is in place, and facilitate lessons learned sessions to improve future processes.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- At least 5 years experience in managing complex computer system and change management implementation projects in a technical environment.
- Strong understanding of IT systems, data and process management practices.
- Excellent project management skills
- Exceptional leadership skills, including the ability to manage diverse teams and work with multiple stakeholders.
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project, Trello, or similar).
- Strong organizational change management skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-solving mindset with an ability to manage high-pressure situations and tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with software and system testing methodologies and best practices.
- Experience in a consulting or client-facing environment
