ABOUT THE POSITION

Portage College’s Library Services Department is hiring Student Library Workers to work on a casual basis at the Lac La Biche campus branch.  Student Library Workers are responsible for:

  • Using logbook to check out materials, track questions, add gate/head counts, and make note of any issues for day-time library staff to follow up on.
  • Shelf-read and track physical items to ensure they are in order.
  • Assist students and employees with navigating library website, guides and forms.
  • Refer reference/citation questions and off-campus login questions to library email/chat.
  • Provide photocopying, scanning and printing assistance when required.
  • Issue guest logins.
  • Must be available Sundays: 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong customer service skills are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficient with computers, especially MS Office.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekend shifts.
