Thursday, March 13, 2025
Location Portage College Lac Lac Biche Gymnasium
Time 10:30 AM to 2:35 PM

As part of our commitment to teaching Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Portage College is hosting its 21st annual Round Dance. The format will focus on education, designed to allow participants to learn about the cultural significance of the round dance.

This interactive opportunity will allow participants to learn and experience various components of the round dance such as:

  • the lighting of the traditional pipe, pipe ceremony
  • the feast
  • smudging
  • different styles of songs and dances
  • giveaways

After participating in this Round Dance, participants will have the knowledge of what a traditional Round Dance is comprised of and its importance to Indigenous culture.

We're proud to share the Indigenous Ways of Knowing site. This section includes information about Indigenous events, partner projects, teachings, resources and more.

We acknowledge that Portage College’s service region is on the traditional lands of First Nation Peoples, the owners of Treaty 6, 8 and 10, which are also homelands to the Métis people. We honour the history and culture of all people who first lived and gathered in these lands.
