Holiday Spirit is alive at Portage College with a $20,000 donation from Canadian Natural towards the Emergent Needs Bursary for students. Portage College has had this bursary for many years to assist students in their time of greatest need.
2020 has had an unprecedented impact on everyone. No one knows this more than the students of Portage College who have had to pivot to online studies. As many of the students were dealing with the changes, they also had family illness and childcare challenges. Canadian Natural’s generous donation will help many more students through these trying times.
“We are committed to the education and training needs of students in the communities where we operate. This year we are proud to support the Emergent Needs Bursary for students at Portage College, which is designed to assist students that are struggling to access and maintain the education they need, due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Chris Best, Stakeholder Relations and Business Development Advisor from Canadian Natural. “Commitment to developing people will always be a priority for Canadian Natural and we hope that this donation will help students achieve their educational goals.”
“Portage College is so grateful to have partners like Canadian Natural who understand our students and have generously stepped in to assist us with increasing our Emergent Needs Bursary,” said Nancy Broadbent, President and CEO of Portage College. “In this season of giving it is so wonderful to have companies with strong humanistic values.”
Applications for the bursary are ongoing and available if a student has a financial shortfall due to an emergency or unexpected situation.
