College Gear Meets Fashion
June 29, 2015

It always feels nice to sport something branded with your college name or logo. It shows how proud you are of your school, and of yourself for getting a post-secondary education. Plus, it usually makes it easier to pick out an outfit in the morning. Throw on a pair of jeans and Portage College t-shirt, done! Slap on some leggings, boots, and a college hoodie, done! Put on a college t-shirt AND a college fleece jacket over top, done and done! There you go; that's three simple outfits right there.

But sometimes you want to spice things up a bit, and find it hard to do when you're wearing college gear. Cindy and Czarina show you how you can make it work!

Cindy 1

Cindy's tip is to go for the business casual look. Pair your favourite jeans with a neutral coloured blazer, and add in a red, bright blue, or purple Portage College t-shirt for that nice pop of colour. People will see right away that you go to Portage College, and even though you've chosen a brightly coloured t-shirt, it'll be blended in nicely and make your look complete. When it comes to shoes, you want to wear something you're really comfortable in. There's nothing worse than walking around all day with sore feet. Cindy chose a nice suede wedge that goes perfectly with her blazer. Matching your shoes to something you're wearing on top really pulls the whole outfit together. The look works perfectly for men, too! Okay, maybe not the wedges.

These t-shirts are currently available in our bookstores for $12.95 and also come in blue, purple, grey, and green.

Czarina 1

Czarina's outdoor look is all about the bright and bold colours for late fall/early winter.  T-shirts and hoodies are by far the most popular in college apparel, but sometimes you want something as simple as a scarf to just throw around your neck, and away you go. Czarina's wearing her scarf outdoors, but that doesn't mean you can't pair it with a shirt and a cardigan and wear it to class.

These scarfs are given away at Voyageur games, to students who sometimes do volunteer work around the college, and sometimes just randomly in the halls. If you're able to get your hands on one, snap a selfie and tag us in your Instagram post. We'd love to see how you wear it!

Don't forget, Spirit Fridays are every week at the Lac La Biche campus. Show up sporting some of your Portage College gear and you become eligible to win a $50 gift card to The Hub. Visit student services for details.
