Portage College Celebrates Métis Week with Events Across Campuses and Communities
November 7, 2024

LAC LA BICHE, AB – Portage College is celebrating Métis Week from November 12 to 16, commemorating the life and legacy of Métis leader Louis Riel and recognizing the remarkable achievements and contributions of the Métis people across Alberta and Canada.

The week’s events will begin with a flag-raising ceremony at the Lac La Biche campus, where the Métis flag will be proudly raised at 10:30 a.m. on November 12. Following the flag-raising, there will be a lunchtime gathering in the Portage Grill with chili, crafts, and jiggers at noon. This replaces the previously scheduled 5:00 p.m. event.
