Portage College is proud to co-lead national military credential recognition through the Canadian Military, Veteran & Family Connected Campus Consortium (CMVF3C). This initiative highlights the College’s commitment to supporting Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, veterans, and their families in achieving their educational and career goals.
Through this collaboration, Portage College is playing a key role in advancing Military Credential Recognition, enabling military members to translate their service experience into academic achievements. Programs like Military Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) and the Military to Business Pathway help bridge the gap between military service and civilian careers, providing students with a seamless transition into academic life.
To date, the College has also engaged with NCMSTEP (Non-Commissioned Member Subsidized Training and Education Program), receiving approval for its Professional Cook and Licensed Practical Nursing programs, with plans to expand into other areas. These initiatives allow military students to gain advanced standing and recognition for their training while accessing tailored supports such as flexible scheduling and trauma-informed services.
“Portage College is honoured to support military members, veterans, and their families through innovative pathways and credential recognition programs,” said Don Moore, Associate Vice President Academic/Dean at Portage College. “We value the unique skills and perspectives these individuals bring to our campus and are committed to helping them succeed in their academic and professional pursuits.”
