Jason started his journey in the culinary arts at the age of 15 and has strived to experience all the food industry has to offer, he has worked in many facets of the food industry including fine dining, conference centers, hotels, catering and food manufacturing. Jason is also a two-time gold medal winner, competing in the Culinary Olympics, Erfurt Germany and the Culinary World Cup, Luxembourg as a member of Culinary Team Alberta.

Jason is dedicated to gardening and food preservation in promoting self sustainability and health, but his passion lies in teaching students in the culinary arts, where he hopes to inspire and encourage those entering into the same field he did over 30 years ago. Jason has been with Portage College for 13 years, having instructed in all the culinary programs and now holding the position of coordinator of the Hospitality Department.
