What would you say to a friend or family member that was thinking of becoming an international student at Portage College?
"Firstly I would say the one on one interaction with the professors, you get that feeling of comfort, feeling of support, that feeling of welcome. I would also say it's beautiful... Coming from Trinidad we are multi-ethnic country so we are already accustomed to different cultures so it's easy for us to come here and fit in."
Akil Johnson, from Princes Town, Trinidad and Tobago
Program: University Transfer
What advise would you give to another international student?
"I would tell an international student to take a leap, take a leap of faith to come and learn about a new culture, a new country. No matter what you have going on at home it's really good and exciting to be somewhere new and on your own. You learn about yourself and how to manage yourself properly. It really is a leap you should take."
