About the Event:

Portage College Public Legal Education Program and Little Warriors invite you to a FREE live online interactive Prevent It! workshop. Developed in collaboration with researchers at the University of Alberta, this evidence-based workshop equips adults with tools to prevent and respond to child sexual abuse.

Did you know?

  • 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 6 boys will experience sexual abuse.
  • 95% of these children will know and trust their perpetrator.

What You’ll Learn:

  • What to watch for, including signs of abuse and grooming behaviors
  • Internet safety and identifying high-risk situations
  • When and how to start conversations about child sexual abuse
  • How to react to a child disclosing abuse
  • Child protection laws and how to report abuse
  • Access to resources, reading materials, checklists, and visuals

Who Should Attend:
This workshop is ideal for parents, professionals, and volunteers who care for, work, or interact with children.

What’s Included:

  • Comprehensive workbook and certificate of attendance
  • Approved for 3 hours of professional development and release time funding through the Alberta Child Care Grant Funding Program

  • Seats are limited to 25 participants. Priority will be given to Alberta residents. Non-Alberta registrants may be waitlisted if capacity is reached.
