Portage College’s Practical Nurse Diploma program received top marks and has been awarded a high program rating. On March 26, 2025, The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) awarded the program a five-year program renewal and a score of 96.59%.
“Our program has been fortunate to benefit from exceptional support services and a dedicated, passionate faculty. Their hard work and resilient efforts have been crucial to achieving a successful program renewal,” said Amy Warren, Curriculum Coordinator for the Practical Nurse Diploma program.
“The faculty’s commitment to providing an enriching learning environment, along with their unwavering support for students, truly sets our program apart,” said Warren. “This ensures that our graduates are not only prepared to excel in their careers but are also equipped to make a lasting impact in healthcare.”
The program renewal process, conducted earlier this month, highlights the ongoing dedication of Portage College staff to advancing the quality and development of its programs, said Shun Li, the dean of Health and Wellness at Portage College.
“This five-year approval for our Practical Nursing program from CLPNA is a testament to the unwavering dedication and effort of our nursing faculty and staff,” he said.
The renewal also affirms the strength of Portage College’s Health and Wellness programs.
“Their commitment to excellence is instrumental in providing our nursing students with a superior education and ensuring they are thoroughly prepared for successful nursing careers ahead,” said Li.
