Portage College Assists Keyano College in Expanding Primary Care Paramedic Education
February 27, 2025Portage College and Keyano College expand Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) education in Northern Alberta. This collaboration adds 12 student spots to Portage College’s PCP program, with lab work at Keyano College. The initiative addresses the growing demand for paramedics in the community. Applications are accepted through Portage College.

Portage College students benefit from $75,000 contribution to endowment fund made by Métis Education Foundation
February 19, 2025A long-serving endowment fund that provides financial awards to Métis students attending Portage College is getting a $75,000 boost.Provided by the Métis Education Foundation Endowment Fund, the awards represent a continuing partnership between Portage College, the Métis Education Fund, the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, and the Rupertsland Institute. The endowment fund has provided financial awards to Portage College students each year since 2009.

Portage College Voyageurs leave lasting impression on WHL's Izzy Abougouche
February 14, 2025Lac La Biche's Ismail Abougouche is playing for the Tri-City Americans in the WHL.The 6'3" 200-pound defenceman has an on-ice presence, but the 19-year-old is also active off the ice, helping youth in the community. He remembers when the Portage College Voyageurs hockey players hosted community events to help him as a young skater - and now he's doing the same for the next generation of players.

Pipe Ceremony begins recruitment process for new Portage College president
February 4, 2025A sacred Pipe Ceremony was held at Portage College recently, combining Indigenous tradition with the process to select the next President and CEO.
We acknowledge that Portage College’s service region is on the traditional lands of First Nation Peoples, the owners of Treaty 6, 8 and 10, which are also homelands to the Métis people. We honour the history and culture of all people who first lived and gathered in these lands.
